Extension & remodelling of an existing live superstore, in a high profile town centre location. The store remained open throughout the main construction phase, with a stipulation to optimise parking provision & minimise customer disruption throughout the project.
The programme constraints necessitated innovation in our construction methods particularly in our early demolition of an existing Petrol Filling Station acquired to enable expansion, detailed phasing of the car park reconfiguration to maintain customer parking during the construction phase.
Key milestone dates were agreed with the client & design team, our dedicated site management team ensured that we liaised with the client at all times & then carefully managed each element of the works to optimise the programme. Early involvement with the design team enabled us to have input into the buildability of the design relative to programme.
Early access to demolish the adjacent PFS enabled us to commence the extension groundworks & critical path retaining walls, we also provided single point responsibility for the civils related elements of the works including sub-structure, S278 Highway Works, attenuated drainage and complete car park reconfiguration. The Undercroft construction of the existing store to suit the topography of the site provided a logistical challenge to construct our outfall drainage but we overcame this by careful planning on site.
